NEWBERRYTOWN, Penn. (May 23, 2007) - The ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region got a rude awakening Sunday night at Susquehanna Speedway Park. Although the series was under the ASCS local headline, the top three and four of the top five were from out of state. Wayne Johnson (Oklahoma City, Okla.), Travis Rilat (Forney, Texas) and Foster Landon (Collinsville, Okla.) swept the top-three spots, and Andy Shouse (Oklahoma City, Okla.) finished fifth in the 20-lap main event.

Dave Ely isn't a full-time race car driver, but he keeps busy at it. Ely, who finished third at Susquehanna Speedway Park on Sunday and sits in eighth in the ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region points, moonlights in the ARDC Midget division. He won last Friday night's feature at Big Diamond Raceway in Minersville, Pa. Ely double dips in the ASCS and ARDC ranks in cars owned by Gene Franckowiak.

Kenny Jacobs, the all-time winning All Star Circuit of Champions driver, had full intentions of driving the Rick Kaylor-owned No. 13K Sunday night at Susquehanna Speedway Park. Actually, Jacobs was going to drive the car the night prior at Selinsgrove Speedway. However, Jacobs was summoned home to Holmesville, Ohio, late Friday night, because his daughter is close to giving birth to a child. Jacobs had plans to run in this Thursday's ASCoT event at SSP.

Chris Schmelzle gets the long-tow award in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Schmelzle is touring the USA with ASCS this season. Schmelzle is from Victoria, British Columbia, the western-most Canadian province. Think about this? Schmelzle has a two-hour ferry ride, one hour driver before he even reaches the northern most town of Washington. From Seattle, Wash., to Newberrytown, Pa., the drive is more than 2750 miles or more than 40 hours.
