Hanover, PA (April 11, 1998) - Fred Rahmer made it two in a row at Lincoln Speedway by winning tonight's twenty five lap feature race. It took seven races, but Lincoln Speedway has its first repeat winner of 1998. Fred Rahmer took the lead on lap five last week and never looked back, in a race he later described as his "hardest fought win at Lincoln". Tonight's race was even tougher, as it took Rahmer 16 laps to take the lead. There was side by side racing action through out the feature in one of the best races in Central Pennsylvania this year. Rahmer summed it up in victory lane when he said "You don't get any breaks here".

Fred Rahmer didn't need any breaks, but he got one anyway. Brian Montieth took the lead on lap seven, pulling out a huge lead until he encountered lapped traffic. By the mid-point in the race, the battling pair of Johnny Mackison and Rahmer had reeled in Montieth at the front. Rahmer cleared Mackison on lap fourteen and just as he set his sights on Montieth, the yellow appeared.

Rahmer lined up behind Montieth for the restart and everyone knew what was coming next. Rahmer dove low into three on the restart and the pair raced side by side to the flagstand. Rahmer edged ahead at the entrance to turn one and it was bye-bye Freddie.

Even with Rahmer running away with the lead, there was plenty of action near the front. Mackison battled Montieth for second for four laps before Mackison secured the position on lap twenty. Mackison eventually getting under Montieth as the cushion got up near the wall in turns one and two.

Two laps later, Sean Michael passed Montieth for third. Michael went to work on Mackison, but Mackison was up to the challenge, finishing second. Sean Michael was third.

With less than three laps to go, the Steve Siegel and Cris Eash battle joined Montieth in a three way battle for fourth place. Siegel slipped under Montieth in turn four as they got the "two to go" sign. Eash gave Montieth the classic slide job in turns one and two on lap twenty four. Montieth took the white flag in sixth place with Tim Shaffer all over his rear. Montieth didn't have enough to hold off Shaffer and he slipped to seventh after a strong showing earlier in the race.

Dave Haight came back to finish eighth after qualifying through the consolation race. Haight was involved in an accident in his heat race when Darren Eash encountered Dan Jones swerving off turn four. Eash made a sudden move to the inside, squeezing Haight into the guardrail. Haight's No. 07 hit the guardrail causing it to flip. Haight finished third in the consi and started 21st in the feature.
