Mother Nature does it again at Lincoln Speedway; 145 Competitors sent home after rains wipe out Memorial Day action.
ABBOTTSTOWN, PA, 5/27/02 - All the heat races were in the books for the 145 competitors that crowded into Lincoln Speedway on Monday night, May 27th, but a blast from Mother Nature completely ended any hopes of completing the rest of the special Memorial Day show.
The "358" sprinters were lining up for the first of two consolation events when torrential rains wiped out the rest of the evening's racing program. The visiting super sportsman and street stocks were unable to complete their consolation events.
The super sportsman are scheduled to return to Lincoln on July 28th, so the program for all divisions except the street stocks was officially canceled. The street stocks have been added to the July 28th show, so all qualifying heats for that division will stand. The consolation and feature for the street stocks will be completed on July 28th, and all rain checks from Lincoln's Memorial Day show will be honored through July 28th.
Heats for the 45 "358" sprints on hand were won by Greg Leiby, Brian Eichelberger, Billy Dietrich, and Jim Siegel.
Heats for the 23 thundercars were won by Neil Smith, Steve Clabaugh, and Bernie Beard.
Heats for the 42 super sportsman were won by Dave Neuman, Duaine Smith, Steve Wilbur, and Dave Berkheimer.
Heats for the 35 street stocks on hand were won by Gregg Foster, Mike Arnold, and Tim Fedder.
