Hockett Rockets to ASCS LOS 360 Nationals Sweep

ELDON, Mo. (September 4, 2005) - Jesse Hockett lived up to his moniker in Sunday night's 30-lap O'Reilly American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores feature event at Lake Ozark Speedway, rocketing in wire-to-wire fashion to top the final night of the Second Annual LOS 360 Nationals.

After winning Saturday's prelim to earn the pole position for Sunday's feature, Hockett gunned into the lead at the outset and ultimately raced underneath the checkered flag with nearly a straightaway advantage as he completed a sweep of the weekend and racked up ASCS National Tour career victory number three.

"Our car was great again tonight, it's nice to get some big wins, I just hope we can keep it going," Hockett commented after his triumph aboard the Wesmar-powered VKCC Motorsports/Arizona Race Mart No. 75 Maxim.

With 27 of Sunday's 50 entries taking the green flag in the main event, the original start was waved off when fourth-starter Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., bicycled in the turn one cushion and caught the wall, with ninth-starter Nick Smith flipping into the scene. Smith was uninjured but done for the night, while Stenhouse rejoined the chase after quick repairs.

Hockett outgunned fellow front row starter Gary Wright for the point on the ensuing restart, only to have a four-car turn four tangle and then a turn three Billy Alley flip slow the action after one round.

Back under way, Hockett set the pace in front of Wright, Tim Montgomery, Darren Stewart and Zach Chappell. Wright kept the pressure on Hockett as lapped traffic came into play until a broken steering arm sent Wright headlong into the turn three wall after ten laps. Wright escaped the vicious flip unscathed.

Hockett survived two more cautions along the way before stretching out a healthy advantage by the time the checkered flag flew. Montgomery settled for the runner-up slot aboard the Donnie Cooper Racing entry, while Jon Corbin posted his best career ASCS finish by racing from tenth to claim the show position.

Chappell crossed the stripe fourth, while Stenhouse rebounded from his early miscue to round out the top five. Stewart was sixth, with 15th-starter Bryan Grimes, 14th-starter Brian Brown, 21st-starter Tony Bruce, Jr., and Chris Morgan completing the top ten.

Chappell, Stewart, Eric Schrock, Smith, Jerrod Hull and Brown topped heat race action, with Toby Brown and Terry Hinck winning the 12-lap "B" Mains.

Ricky Ryun flipped in heat race action, while Natalie Sather, Lee Sowell and Gabe Maycock each flipped in the first "B" Main. There were no injuries.
