Giannetto & Dietrick 'out', Combs 'in' for Sunday'S $4,000-to-win Brodix Tournament Of Champions.

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (JULY 31, 2002) - The fourth-ever Brodix Tournament of Champions (ToC) invitational sprint car race, slated for this Sunday, August 4, at the fabled Knoxville Raceway, will be one dynamic event. One reason is that the tournament teams keep changing, as stars and cars have become disabled during the dog days of July. Today, Jesse "Bulldog" Giannetto confirmed that his injuries will keep him from representing the home track, while Rob Dietrick's blown engine (last Saturday at Fulton, New York) will keep him from racing for "Team ESS" in the $4,000-to-win classic. Brodix ToC alternate Randy Combs of Tipton, Missouri, will now race with the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) on Sunday night.

Said tournament coordinator Tom Schmeh, "All five affiliates now have nine drivers per 'tournament team', with six from each advancing towards the 30-lap, 30-car finale. It is going to be a great show, with 45 national stars racing for 30 starting positions. And the fans will see five fully-inverted heats, four B-Mains, and one wild-and-wooly A-Main, all with a $10 general admission ticket!"

If any more teams withdraw from the event, alternates will continue to be utilized from those eligible drivers that entered prior to the July 8 deadline. Nebraska Sprint Car Association (NSCA) competitor Jason Danley is the next alternate in line. The five Brodix Tournament of Champions affiliates are Knoxville Raceway led by Brian Brown, American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) led by Tim Crawley, Empire Super Sprints led by Mike Woodring, and the 'Best of the Midwest' team from WISSOTA, Winged Outlaw Warriors (WOW) and NSCA. Chuck Swenson, Mike Trent and Billy Alley lead those three sanctions, respectively.

Revised team line-ups for the fourth Brodix Tournament of Champions will be available on the track's www.knoxvilleraceway.com web-site under "Events" on Thursday.
