According to Knoxville's director of racing Ralph Capitani, "This may be the biggest Masters field since 2001, when we had thirty competitors seeking twenty A-Main starting spots. Already we have sixteen cars entered, with another four drivers looking. And we haven't even heard from drivers like A.J. Weaver, Kenny Jacobs, Ron Rosenboom, Terry Alexander, Lonnie Jensen, Roy Jo Peltz, Roger Rager, Bob Houseman, Don Stoutner, Joe Kouba, Chris Maurer, and Tony Moro yet. As Tony Bokhoven has been known to say, 'this is going to be a Jim Dandy' this year!"
The sixteen official entrants to date are: Rev. Mark Amenda (Streator, IL), Carl "Midge" Miller (Willingboro, NJ), Bobby Becker, Jr. (Denton, NE), Tim Gee (LeDuc, AB, CAN), "Butch" Hanssen (Sioux Falls, SD), Dale McCarty (Eldorado Springs, MO), Joe McCarthy (Broomfield, CO), Randy Droescher (Larchwood, IA), Bill Smith (Worthington, MN), Greg Rilat (Texas City, TX), Bob Thompson (Des Moines, IA), David Brown (Marshall, MO), Mike Peters (Wichita, KS), Kramer Williamson (Palmyra, PA), Arnie Vink (Luverne, MN), Judi Bates (Barto, PA).
