I-30 Speedway Hosts $10,000 to Win 600 Nationals Next Weekend!
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (September 7, 2006) -- Already renowned as the home of Sprint Car racing's prestigious Short Track Nationals, Little Rock's I-30 Speedway is set to host another landmark event with the running of the First Annual 600 Nationals next Friday and Saturday, September 15 and 16.
The nation's top 600cc Micro drivers, along with several top invading Sprint Car shoes, will descend upon the high-banked, ¼-mile I-30 Speedway clay oval next weekend to vie for an unprecedented 600cc Micro purse that includes a whopping $10,000 earmarked for the winner.
Following a test and tune practice session on Thursday night, September 14, two full nights of racing action will follow with the top six finishers in Friday night's feature locked into Saturday night's $10,000-to-win finale. The balance of the field will start with a clean slate in the battle to fill out the 24-car starting field, with all starters collecting a minimum of $400.
The Micros will be joined on both nights of racing by I-30 Speedway's popular Sprint Car class, which features the likes of Tim Crawley, Darren Stewart, Pete Butler and leading 2006 championship contenders Justin Sturch and Joe Young.
The current list of contenders for the First Annual 600 Nationals crown reads like a "Who's Who" list of the nation's top micro contenders, including Delaware's Scott Smith, Pennsylvania's Ryan Greth, North Carolina's Brian Roseman, Missouri's Tony Roney, California's Dean "Kiwi" Alexander and Stan Yockey, Indiana's Rodney Stealy and Nate Lauderbaugh, Louisiana racers Terry Monroe, Lee Knowles and Rusty Pipes, Oklahoma guns Ryan Duke, Scott Sawyer, Jake Mosley and Kevin Bayer, and home state Razorback contender Travis Senter, Jr. The field of entries, which is expected to number well over 100, will also include top Sprint Car racers Jason Johnson and past Short Track Nationals champions Tim Crawley and Mike Ward.

Practice starts at 6:00 p.m. on September 14; Full card on September 15 (gates open at 5:00 p.m., racing at 7:30 p.m.) with top 6 feature finishers locked into Saturday night finale; $10,000 to win the 600 Nationals finale on September 16 (gates open at 5:00 p.m., racing at 7:30 p.m.) with $400 to start the 600 Nationals championship feature.
qualifying races will be in place for both nights of competition. Each night, Heat Races will be aligned according to the pre-race draw, with the passing points system in effect. A subsequent set of Last Chance Races followed by Qualifying Races, with passing points again in effect, will set each night's feature lineup.
The top six from Friday night's feature will run in Saturday night's "Sawyer Chassis Dash for Cash" to determine the alignment of the front three rows of the championship feature event.
Other Awards: In addition to the Sawyer Dash for Cash, Sawyer Chassis will also raffle off a chassis. 600 Scene will award $500 to the 600 Nationals Hard Charger. Keizer Wheels will give $300 to the top finisher utilizing Keizer Wheels.
