ASCS Gulf South Weekend Still on as Scheduled

TULSA, Okla. (September 1, 2005) -- While Hurricane Katrina and the ensuing aftermath has left the city of New Orleans in flooded chaos and much of Mississippi's coastal area in unrecognizable shambles, racing action is still on as scheduled for the Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region this Saturday and Sunday.

Both Thunder Valley Speedway in Union Hill, LA, and Fast Trax Speedway in Chatham, LA, avoided the brunt of Katrina, with both speedways receiving little more than rain on Monday.

Both facilities will be ready for racing action this weekend, with Thunder Valley Speedway hosting the ASCS Gulf South Region on Saturday and Fast Trax Speedway hosting the series Sunday night.

While racing action continues, race fans are encouraged to keep in mind the massive recovery efforts facing these areas that were ravaged by Katrina. Those interested and able to help are encouraged to contact the American Red Cross at 1-800-HELP-NOW.
