SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Empire Super Sprints will once again be a big part of the 17th annual Carquest Motorsports Expo on March 7-9 at the N.Y. State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, N.Y. "ESS Land" will welcome all fans to help kick off the 20th Anniversary Tour celebration.

Sprint cars of Dan Kaszubinski, John Karklin Jr. and Doug Emery will be on display all weekend with the drivers greeting fans as well. At the ESS booth you will also be able to pick up a 2003 schedule and the new 20th Anniversary Tour T-Shirts will be available.

On Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Kaszubinski, Karklin and Emery will be joined by ESS stars Lance Yonge, Rob Dietrick, Mike Stelter and 2002 rookie of the year Billy White for a special autograph session. Fans can bring their own items to sign or the drivers will have cards and photos of their own to hand out.

Dan Kaszubinski is back full bore on the ESS tour for 2003 with the goal of the ESS championship. For the first time in his career, the exciting sprint chauffeur will forgo his 1987 Bobby Allen chassis for a 2001 Maxim. The newer equipment is expected to take this 18 time ESS winner to the next level and hopefully is first ever ESS crown.

John Karklin Jr. is also getting ready for a full assault on the ESS crown with two J&J chassis sprinters ready from the Richard Goff stable. The very personable driver took his first ever top 10 placing in the final points last year and is looking for a bigger and better year in 2003.

Doug Emery made history last season by being the first driver to win an Empire Super Sprints feature event as well as an United Racing Club A-Main in one year. Although the Nedrow, N.Y. star will again concentrate on the URC tour, he will make several ESS events this season to race in front of his local fans.

The Patrick family is the fine folks behind the scenes at the annual Expo and also own and publish the Gater Racing Photo News in Liverpool, N.Y. Gater is starting its 38th season of publication and in 2003 they have joined ESS in sponsoring the Lap Leader Award. The driver that leads the most A-Main laps this season will receive $300 cash and several other prizes from Gater at the annual awards banquet in November.

ESS fans and competitors can also keep up to date on point standings as well as upcoming races with a weekly section in Gater. For more information and subscription rates you can click on to www.gaternews.com.

While the snow is still waist deep in Central, N.Y. it's time to start thinking of some good 'ole dirt track sprint car racing. The Carquest Motorsports Expo on March 7-9 is a great way to get the racing juices flowing and the Empire Super Sprints will be there getting ready to celebrate it's 20th season of showcasing the very best in "America's Race Cars"
