SYRACUSE, N.Y. - On Friday night, May 19, the traveling road show of the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) will visit the Cattaraugus County Fairgrounds and the monster half-mile known as the Little Valley Speedway. The second stop of the 34 date Tour 2001 will provide and early season challenge for all the stars and cars of ESS.
Last season Lance Yonge drove the Mal Lane owned, Stealth chassis sprinter to it's third win of the season in the first visit of the winged warriors at Little Valley. The Penn Yan, N.Y. star bested Canadian Rick Wilson and six time ESS champion Mike Woodring to the finish line for the $1500 plus pay night. Both Wilson and Woodring will be among the many top sprint car drivers that will tackle the fast and tricky Little Valley paper clip shaped half-mile. Fans can also come out and route for local favorites Tom Taber (former promoter and winner at Little Valley), Tim Zimbardi and Chris Shuttleworth.
Three Brodix Cylinder Heads heat events kick off the action followed by the KSE Racing Products B-Main and the Zimbardi Electric/Walt's Hobby Dash. All the prelims will lead up to the 20 lap A-Main which is a vital part to the point championship that will be decided on October.
Little Valley...Where the BOLD and the BEST come to race! The Empire Super Sprints will be showcasing "America's Race Cars". Sounds like excitement guaranteed!!!
