Empire Super Sprints to Close out Point Season at Frogtown this Saturday.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The full point season for the nativepoker.com Tour for the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) will see its final checkered flag with a special early evening appearance at the Frogtown Int'l Speedway. This marks the first time in the 24 year history of ESS that the fast half-mile will end the tour points.
Not only will American and Canadian fans alike will see a big field of sprinters on hand, but its also a bit of history as for the first time ever the winged warriors will make two visits in one year. In the driver's seat for his first ever title is Alain Bergeron, the French Canadian star leads a red hot Jeff VanDusen by 50 points with Dan Kaszubinski and Steve Poirier also having a mathematical shot at the title. Poirier will be one week from his biggest sprint car win of his short career as he won over $6,000 by capturing the second annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.
Back in July, Jeff Cook thrilled many friends and fans with his only triumph so far in 2006. He bested John Karklin Jr., VanDusen, Bubby Kerrick and Nick Fratto to the stripe. All these stars plus top names such as Jessica Zemken, Lance Yonge, Doug Emery, Jason Barney and many more will be in the pits at the track located on the Akwesasne Indian Reservation.
Three Car Mate Custom Trailer heat events will be followed by the CKON-FM/Walt's Hobby Dash, the KSE Racing Products B-Main which all lead up to the 25 lap A-Main finale that will see the winner take home over $2,000 in cash and bonuses.
