SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Friday, August 11 and Tuesday, August 15 are the next dates on the half-a-million dollar Empire Super Sprints Tour 2000. The Brockville Ontario Speedway will play host on Friday night while the Fulton Speedway showcases the return of ESS to the highbanks after a four year hiatus. These two events will have an extra incentive waiting the victor as a guaranteed starting spot for the ESS/URC Shootout held at the New York State Fairgrounds during Super DIRT Week. The 20 mile, $35,000 contest will be open to the fastest 24 drivers during time trials. If you win at either Brockville or Fulton you will be granted a starting berth even if you fall short of the top 24. All the stars and cars of the ESS traveling road show will give it a little extra in hopes for the Syracuse Qualifier. Paul Kirkland's fast quarter-mile known to most fans in Canada as the "BOS" will see the winged warriors for the second time in 2000. The first stop back in June saw a standing room only crowd on hand and they were on their feet as the 20 lap A-Main wasn't decided until the last corner of the last lap. R.C. Faigle slipped Canadian star and local hero Rick Wilson in the closing stages to grab his second career ESS win. Ironically, Faigle's first win also came at Brockville last year and he beat Wilson in that event as well. While Faigle and Wilson will be on hand to highlight their International duel, top stars such as Lance Yonge, Mike Stelter and Rob Dietrick will be looking to make another appearance to victory lane in 2000. The exciting Canadian sprint fans will see three Brodix Cylinder Heads heat events, the KSE Racing Product B-Main as well as the Walt's Hobby Dash Series sponsored on this night by Wilson's car owner and sponsor, Price Paving and Plooy's Performance Products. All the action will lead up to the 20 lap feature event which starts the road to Syracuse. Central, N.Y. fans, it's the night you have been waiting for. "America's Race Cars" are coming back to the Fulton Speedway. Promoter Harvey Fink has been snake bit in getting the return in the record books. Last years date as well as the originally scheduled May date fell victim to rain. Both ESS and Fulton hope the August 15 make up date will be the third try charm. The high banked, multi-grooved oval will see the sprint cars at their best. Current ESS pointy leader Mike Woodring, Dan Kaszubinski, Doug Emery and many-time Fulton small block winner Bobby Podolak will headline the 30 plus sprints expected to be in the field. The DIRT sportsman will join the card for a special two division show. It's going to quick, fun and wild!! Just like the Brockville event, the winner at Fulton will have a free ticket to the richest race in Empire Super Sprint history. Mother nature...it's all up to you now. Two nights, two countries...Brockville and Fulton, are you ready to have ESS throw some mud in your eye!!!
