The Empire Super Sprint Tour 2005 Will Kick off on Mother's Day, May 8th at Cayuga County.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- In what is the norm in the Northeastern part of the United States, the winters are long a cold. All that is about to change on Mother's Day, May 8th when it all heats up at the Cayuga County Fair Speedway as it will be the first event for the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) and their 22nd Anniversary Tour.
A special event dubbed "The Mother's Day Night Out" will see a pit full of winged sprints cars making their return to the 3/8ths mile high banked oval for the first time in three years. The 25 lap A-Main will see a cool $2,050 go to the victor as well as making the first step towards the 2005 ESS championship. A special open draw for heats and re-draw for the feature will be used for all drivers that have sprint car experience.
Heading the list of expected entries will be defending title holder Lance Yonge and he is no stranger to victory lane at the Weedsport, N.Y. oval. The challenges will be stiff however as drivers like Dan Kaszubinski, Jeff VanDusen, Bubby Kerrick, Jeff Cook, Mike Stelter and many others will be looking to dethrone the champion in hopes for their first ever title.
The return to Cayuga County will also be special for local drivers such as Doug Emery, Bob Podolak, the ageless veteran George Ely and the young Bryan Howland. They will be in competition in front of many friends, family and fans who will view three or four Car-Mate Trailer heat events, the Walt's Hobby Dash and the KSE Racing Products B-Main all leading up to the 25 lap finale.
A little bit of history will be made as this will be the first ever ESS point show held under the new DIRT Motorsports Northeast banner. A special 4 o'clock afternoon start will be in effect which will get the fans home at an early hour with the DIRT sportsman and pro stocks also filling the racing log.
