Williamson, NY - Mike Emhof of Sodus, NY, has piloted his Pace Electronics/Heluva Good Foods mini sprinter to a second place finish in the drivers' points standings on the 2001 Central New York Mini Sprint (CNYMS) Tour. Involved in one of the most competitive tour points races in recent years, Emhof missed the top spot by only 7 points, which translates to only three finish positions over the course of the ten tour points races. Forty-one different drivers competed for tour points money.

Emhof will be recognized for his achievement at the Central New York Mini Sprint banquet to be held in early November in Johnstown, NY.

Enroute to his runner-up finish this year, Emhof won five heat races. He had 8 top ten and 5 top five feature finishes, including three feature points race wins, the most of any driver on the CNYMS tour. The feature wins, when added to his tally since beginning to run the tour full time four years ago, gives him a total of 12, again the most on the tour over this period of time.

In addition to his second place tour points finish this year, Emhof has had another runner up finish and two third place finishes over the past three years. No driver over the past four years has had a higher average tour points finish than Emhof.

Emhof and the rest of the Branich Motorsports team wishes to extend their thanks to the roster of 2001 sponsors, including primary sponsor Pace Electronic Products and major sponsor Heluva Good Foods, both of Sodus, NY, and major sponsor Wayne Regional Orthopaedics, of Williamson, NY. The list of associate sponsors includes HSBC, Mikonna Properties, and Lessord's Chrysler Products, all of Sodus, and Professional Tire and Service, Norwich, NY. Lyons (NY) National Bank sponsored this year's version of the Branich "Racing for Kids" program.
