Sodus, NY May 4, 2003 -- Mike Emhof of Sodus, NY and Dave & Vickie Sparks of Scotia, NY kicked off the 2003 CNYMS tour with a solid performance for the team cars of Mike Emhof and Cory Sparks. The "Young Gun" Sparks, unloaded finding his new 2003 Henchcraft mount feeling very potent. The seasoned veteran however would have one of those tough and struggling evenings with a pleasing end.

Sparks would find himself in the winners circle after the 15 lap affair claiming his first ever CNYMS "A" main win. Emhof had to come from deep in the pack to eventually finish a respectable forth. The winner in victory lane was eager to thank his Mom & Dad, the fans, track and great sponsors for all of their continued support. Cory started the evening by taking a 2nd in his heat race and lined up 8th for the start of the "A" main. He quickly moved around traffic to set his sites on another youngster on the tour, Bryan Howland who had jumped out to a quick lead and past tour champion Lance O'dell. After a caution lap for the slowing car of O'dell, Sparks moved to the high line and moved around Howland on lap 7 of the15 lap event. From that point it seemed as if Cory placed his machine on cruise control as he distanced himself from the rest of the field. Cory commented "The changes we made were perfect and I could put the car anywhere I wanted".

Emhof had a tough start to the evening with fuel system troubles. The team worked hard all night to correct the problem which paid off. Starting from 18th Emhof had only one way to go and that was forward. "Due to our troubles tonight I didn't get much of chance to see what the car really had in it", said Emhof, "We were on the rev limiter just past the flag stand and half way down the back stretch". "Given the circumstances I am very pleased with the outcome of the evening. "Having both of our team cars in the top 4 with Cory getting his first win is very gratifying".
