Sodus, NY Dec. 12, 2002 - Mike Emhof of Sodus, NY and Dave & Vickie Sparks of Scotia, NY will be teamed together in 2003. Emhof, who has driven Mini Sprints for Branich Motorsports the past 5 seasons will find himself in new surroundings for the 2003 Central New York Mini Sprint tour.

Emhof stated, "the phone started ringing with no less than 4 solid offers about the same day as the Branich equipment went on the sale block". He also commented, "I took a very close look at all of my options and feel that the opportunity to drive for Dave and Vickie, and to have Cory Sparks as a teammate, would certainly be a win-win deal for all parties involved."

Since 1996, the Sparks' have fielded Mini Sprints out of their shop in Scotia, NY and have enjoyed two championships with Marc LaPan as driver and claimed Rookie of the Year status with Cory in 2000. As a testament to the dedication of the entire Sparks operation, they have captured the "Best Appearing Car" award every year since its inception on the CNYMS tour. Emhof claims, "there are a lot of well prepared teams on the tour, but the Sparks cars seem to be a lap ahead in the preparation department."

The team will field Henchcraft machines on the tour with Suzuki power plants. Hoosier Tires mounted on Weld Racing Wheels will get the power to the track with the help of TP Wings up top controlling the action.

A Primary Sponsor has yet to be named, but negotiations are ongoing with many companies as this goes to press. The team cars, of both Emhof and Cory Sparks, will carry the colors and lettering of all of the sponsors. The sponsorship program to date, "is as stout as the competition on the CNYMS tour" claimed Emhof.

Returning with Sparks' for the 2003 season are their long time supporters in Powder Tech Custom Powder Coating (Schenectady, NY), Mayfair Garage (Scotia, NY), Farrell Oil Co. Inc. (Wilton, NY) & Sparks Excavation, Inc. (Middle Grove, NY). Coming with Emhof to the new team of Emhof/Sparks at an Associate Level will be Professional Tire & Service (Norwich, NY), JL Max Motorsports (Chesapeake, VA), Stones Snow Sled & Mikonna Properties (both of Sodus, NY), Appletown Gun Shop (Williamson, NY), Speedway Advertising (Hooksett, NH), TP Wings (Bloomington, IN) and Tom Busch Race Engines (Bedford, IN). Product Support sponsors for Emhof / Sparks are Leaf Racewear, Weld Wheels, Sway-A-Way, Bicknell Race Products, Northern Wayne Auto Center, Spectro Oil, and Gater Racing News.
