Johnson Tops ASCS Coastal vs. Gulf South Clash at Fast Trax

CHATHAM, La. (September 15, 2007) -- One night after missing out on ASCS Sooner Region victory lane by one position, Louisiana's Jason Johnson resumed his winning ways by topping Saturday night's 25-lap American Sprint Car Series Coastal vs. Gulf South Region feature event at Fast Trax Speedway.

After nipping Michael Herrington at the line to win the Pole Dash, "The Ragin' Cajun" fought off several early bids from Herrington in the feature before slipping away to post his 14th overall feature win of the year aboard Lanny Row's Wesmar-powered The Shop Motorsports/Custom Equipment Design No. 41 Eagle.

Johnson took the checkered flag in front of Herrington, with current ASCS Coastal Region points leader Michael Dupuy earning Hard Charger honors by racing from twelfth to capture the show position.

Defending ASCS Gulf South Region champion Gary Watson was fourth, with current Gulf South points leader Skip Wilson making a late move around Chris Sweeney to round out the top five.

Sweeney was sixth, while Brandon Berryman rebounded from a lap 19 spin while battling for second to snare seventh. Shane Morgan, Ray Allen Kulhanek and Greg Rilat completed the top ten.

Johnson, Watson and Rilat topped heat race action, with David Kountz winning the "B" Main.
