Williamson, NY - The Central New York Mini Sprints (CNYMS) invaded Woodhull (NY) Speedway on August 10th, and Mike Emhof (Sodus, NY) survived an accident marred race to capture his third feature win of the season.

A full field of 25 mini sprinters took the feature green to tackle the high banked 1/3-mile oval. The race was red flagged even before the first lap was completed, as a multicar tangle in turn two claimed at least four cars. When the race finally resumed, Phil Peworchik (Binghamton, NY) moved into the lead from his front row starting spot, followed by 16-year-old Cory Sparks (Scotia, NY) and Emhof, who had quickly moved up from inside the third row. The three distanced themselves from the rest of the field before the race was red flagged again on lap 7 for an accident in turn four that left another mini sprinter upside down. Shortly after the restart, Sparks was able to take the top spot from Peworchik, and Emhof followed into the runner-up position when Peworchik drifted high. Emhof closed the gap to challenge Sparks and took the lead on lap 12 when the young hotshoe looped his mount between turns 1 and 2. Emhof maintained the lead and held off Peworchik's challenge on a restart after yet another caution slowed the field on lap 16. Emhof opened up a ½ straightaway advantage before taking the checkers in the 20-lap feature. James Brush (Newfoundland, PA) finished third followed by Jeremy Quick (Kerhonkson, NY) in fourth. Lance O'Dell (Oneonta, NY) rounded out the top five.

The CNYMS tour will return to Fulton (NY) Speedway on August 31st for the finale of the Lyons National Bank Dash for Cash Series, presented by Lessord's Chrysler Products. The next night the teams will travel to Utica-Rome Speedway.
