Central NY Mini Sprint Opener at Skyline This Saturday

Blodgett Mills, NY: The Central New York Mini Sprint (CNYMS) series kicks off its 2004 season this Saturday night, May 8th at Skyline Raceway. The 1/3-mile speedplant will host the series on five occasions this season. Track owners Frank and Audrey Payne are excited about the 1200cc mini sprints launching their season and making a home track commitment to Skyline. Centrally located between Syracuse and Binghamton, Skyline will draw from a large area considering the convenient venue.

A number of drivers are returning to the CNYMS series to compete for the tour title. Currently registered are drivers from all corners of New York State, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Quebec. Don Harvey, Jared and Dennis Fink, Corey Sparks, Al Scerbo, Barry Virts, and a number of other competitors are all contenders for the win on a weekly basis and series title for the 2004 season.

The season-opener is always an exciting race for the win as competitors are out to send the early message of championship contention. The series consists of 18 races on 12 different tracks this season. A majority of the venues can be classified as short tracks, which means the action will be tight and fast. Skyline Raceway fits the bill as a short track and sets that stage from the start of the season. Drivers that can master Skyline may have a bit of an edge in the season-long race for the championship.

Series regulars are prepared to hold off the challenges of other 1200 mini sprint competitors thinking they can be a spoiler on opening night. The line has been drawn in the dirt and the Central NY Mini Sprint series is ready to go at Skyline Raceway.

Fans will be treated to the best mini sprint touring show in the Northeast. Sprint car racing is growing and with several mini sprint races running in conjunction with the Empire Super Sprints in 2004, fans will be treated to twice the excitement.

Catch the action early and come out to Skyline Raceway this Saturday night. Gates open at 4:30pm. Racing starts promptly at 6:30pm. For more racing information about Skyline, call 607-657-8222. The official CNYMS website is www.cnyms.com. Log on for a complete schedule of events.
