Six Gun Races to start July 4th Weekend

Sodus, NY - With the 1999 Central New York Mini Sprint season running in high gear, Penn Can Speedway (Susquehanna, PA) and Afton (NY) Speedway are set to host the third and fourth stops of the 1999 Dow Corning/Kaman Industrial Technologies Six Gun Mini Sprint Shootout. The tracks will present back-to-back shows to open the 4th of July weekend with Penn Can hosting the festivities on Thursday n ight, July 1st, and Afton taking over on Friday night, July 2nd.

The Shootout, "a tour within a tour," is independently organized by Branich MotorSports of Sodus, NY, and is sanctioned by Central Ne w York Mini Sprints, Inc. Afton Speedway is the 1999 "home" of the CNYMS tour and the Shootout is one of six tour races to be held at George Hoffmier's facility. The race at Penn Can is the third of four tour races this year, part of the Penn Can Mini Sprint Challenge Cup, organized by Reed Miller. Penn Can may boast about some of the larger Mini Sprint car counts this year. Mike Emhof, of Sodus, NY, and Dave Peworchik, of Harporsville, NY, are co-leaders in the Six Gun Series points chase with Peworchik taking the series opener at Albany-Saratoga Speedway on June 4th an d Emhof taking the June 18th race at Black Rock Speedway. The Shootout Series is co-sponsored by Dow Corning, Inc., Midland, Michigan, and Kaman Industrial Technologies, Inc. Dow is a worldwide su pplier of a full line of adhesive sealants and specialty lubricants. With nearly 200 branch locations countrywide, Kaman is one of North America's largest distributors of bearing, power transmission , fluid power, linear motion and material handling equipment. Slate Belt Auto Parts, Bangor, PA, will sponsor the Shootout race at Penn Can Speedway. The Shootout has caught the interest of many Mi ni Sprint teams throughout the Northeast.

Already teams have pre-registered for, not only the Penn Can and Afton dates, but for the all of the remaining Shootout races as well.
