A-Verdi Storage Containers / CNYMS 2002 Tour at Bully Hill Vineyards 360 Sprint Nationals
Sodus, NY (Aug. 20, 2002)- The A-Verdi Storage Containers / Central New York Mini Sprint (CNYMS) 2002 Tour will be part of the two day Bully Hill Nationals at Blackrock Speedway in Dundee, NY, on September 6th & 7th. A strong field of 1200 cc mini sprints is expected for the 4th annual sprint spectacular promoted by Lynn and Cindy Hough. Sheppard Grain & Trucking of Phelps, NY, will be the sponsor for the mini sprint portion of the program. Well over 100 winged sprint cars are expected, which should result in a great show for all of the fans.
Parity has been the name of the game on the CNYMS tour this year, with 6 different winners, only two repeat winners, and the top 6 drivers all within striking distance in the series points battle. The schedule of events is for all qualifying to be completed on Friday night (Sept. 6). The gates will open at 4:30 with hot laps beginning promptly at 6:15. The mini sprints will run 3 heats of 8 laps each to set the top 20. The balance of the 24 car starting field will be set with a "B" main directly after the 360 Sprint's Sweet 16's.
Every mini sprint participant of the evening will make some purse money both evenings of racing. The total posted awards for this show is nearly $4000.00 for the mini sprints, with the "A" main paying $500.00 to win and $50.00 to take the green flag. Heats are expected to pay $50.00 to win.
Directly following the heats will be the Lyons National Bank "Winners Share" dash race. This is a special, high paying 6-lap dash for the winners of the five feature races of the soon to be completed Lyons National Bank Mini Sprint Dash for Cash Series, presented by Lessord's Chrysler Products. Mikonna Properties of Sodus, NY, will provide some sponsorship for this 6-lap dash. The 6-car field will be made up of the winners of the Dash for Cash races, with the balance of the field made up from the highest point getters in the series who have not won a race. All ready in the field are Bryon Howland of Auburn, NY, Jared Fink of Germantown, NY, Mike Emhof of Sodus, NY and Doug Norrie of West Suffield, CT. The "Winners Share" Dash will pay $100.00 to win.
The final race of the Lyons National Bank Mini Sprint Dash for Cash Series, presented by Lessord's Chrysler Products, is set for September 1st, 2002, at Fulton (NY) Speedway. This race is presented in part by Wayne Regional Orthopaedics, LLC, of Williamson, NY.
The A-Verdi Storage Containers / CNYMS 2002 Tour will then move onto the Utica Rome Speedway the next night, September 1st, for a high flying affair on the half mile. The mini sprinters will be sharing the festivities that night with the Empire Super Sprints. This should make for a great preview to the action to be seen at the Bully Hill Nationals.
