Bully Hill Nationals Dash qualifiers to kick off on Memorial Day Weekend.
DUNDEE, N.Y. -- The first two of ten Bully Hill Vineyards Fall Sprint Nationals dash qualifiers will take place on Memorial Day Weekend. On Sunday, May 25th, the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) will hold the first of their three qualifiers at the Utica-Rome Speedway while the Patriot Sprint Group (PSG) will do the same at the Eriez Speedway.
A total of four different 360 sprint car sanctions throughout the Northeast United States and Canada will hold qualifying events for the 10 lap dash that is held on Friday night, Sept. 5th of the two night Fall Sprint Nationals that is presented by S.P. Wilson/Lakes Gas. Joining ESS, who has participated in all four previous Bully Hill events, and PSG, will be the United Racing Club (URC) and the Southern Ontario Sprints (SOS). The only the winners at each qualifying event will be eligible to run the dash event which pays $300 to win and carries a purse of $1300.
The sanctions of ESS, URC and PSG will hold three dash qualifiers while SOS will hold one event. The annual dash event is a large part of the two-day, $40,000 plus event that is fast becoming one of the largest open competition 360 sprint car events in the nation. On Friday night, three 16 lap A-Main's known as the "Sweet 16's" with each paying $1,000 to win highlight the first night.
Saturday will see D,C and B-Mains all leading up to the 35 lap finale which will pay the winner over $4,000. Once again, the "Knoxville" point system will be used to determine the starting positions in each feature event run.
In the four previous Bully Hill Nationals, ESS and URC each have two victories with Craig Keel (1999) and Mike Woodring (2002) carrying the ESS banner and George Suprick (2000-01) holding the trophy for URC.
The 5th annual Nationals will take place at the Black Rock Speedway located in Dundee, N.Y. on September 5 & 6. What was tried as an experiment in 1999 has now become a winged sprint car fan's tradition. Over 50 of the best drivers from more than seven states and two Canadian provinces are expected to fill the pit area at the 4/10ths mile oval.
