Wimmer Runs Third at Silver Dollar Speedway

CHICO, CA (May 18) -- Brandon Wimmer and Redi-Green Motorsports made the most of a roller-coaster evening Friday on Wittmeier Auto Center Night in the Feather Falls Casino Series at Silver Dollar Speedway.

Wimmer, who paced the 23-car field with a 12.197-second lap around Chico's high-banked, ¼-mile oval, was running third in the First Heat Race when the oil filter on the #1K ARB Incorporated Maxim came loose and dumped most of the car's oil on the track. The 20-year-old driver from Fairmount, IN, won the "B" Feature in flag-to-flag fashion and passed four cars on his way to a third-place finish in the 25-lap "A" Feature.

"We had a really good qualifying run but, in the heat, I was up to third when the oil filter came loose," Wimmer said. "We lost quite a bit of oil out of the motor, so we had to drop out and go to the 'B.' We didn't have to change the motor because we didn't lose all of the oil. We just filled it back up and it was fine. We won the 'B' and finished third in the feature, so it wasn't too bad. I was running sixth and when everybody went to the bottom on a restart, I got around three cars (Greg DeCaires, Korey Lovell and Matt Shelton) on the top. It was a pretty good night for us."

Wimmer and Redi-Green Motorsports will be back in action Saturday in the Golden State Challenge King of California Series' Chris and Brian Faria Memorial race at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA.
