STN Entry County Up to 72!
TULSA, Okla. (October 20, 2008) -- The O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series puts the wraps on the 2008 season this weekend. And, it does it in grand style with I-30 Speedway's 21st Annual O'Reilly Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires in Little Rock, AR.
The premier Sprint Car racing event, encompassing three full nights of racing action on Thursday, Friday and Saturday following a Test 'N Tune session on Wednesday night, concludes with Saturday night's $15,000 to win Short Track Nationals championship main event, with all main event starts collecting at least $2,100.
The winner's share could climb to as much $20,000, with a possible bonus of $5,000 available in the form of the COMP Cams Gambler's Challenge, which will be available to one of Saturday night's slated front row feature starters.
The number of entries filed for the event has climbed to 72 over the weekend, with several more expected over the course of the week to push the total to well over 80 competitors.
Among the latest entries are Louisiana's Jason Johnson and Texas' Gary Wright.
Johnson, the 2006 Short Track Nationals champion, put a virtual lock on the $50,000 O'Reilly ASCoT championship during this past weekend's Devil's Bowl Speedway Winter Nationals while four-time STN king Wright made a last lap pass to win the Winter Nationals.
Also joining the STN field is 1998 race winner Tim Crawley, running the number of past winners entered in this weekend's action to five with Wayne Johnson and Terry Gray among the early entries as well.
All three nights of action get under way at 7:30 p.m., with the top three from both Thursday and Friday's preliminary features locked into Saturday night's championship main event. The balance of the field starts with a clean slate on Saturday night in the battle to fill out the 20-car feature starting field.
