HARTFORD, OH -- It was all the Jeff Shepard show Sunday night at Sharon Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car X-1R 40 lap Sharon Nationals feature. Shepard became the 15th different winner in 24 runnings of the annual Sharon Nationals as he led every lap and won by a full straightaway over Dean Jacobs, who finished second for the third race in a row.

"My guys made a great decision on tires tonight. We missed on them a little bit last night," Shepard said in victory lane. "When I was in clean air and there wasn't a bunch of cars in front of me I could see the cushion and hold my elbows in and keep the thing straight." He concluded by stating, "We've had an awesome record. This car's only been on the track six times and we've done real well with it (three wins)." His team is helped out by Cat Construction, York Co. Excavating, Pro-shocks, Hoosier Tires, Weld Wheels, JEI Chassis and Kriner Engines.

Shepard's Barry Jackson JEI No. 8 and Bill Rose's own No. 6 made up the front row for the start, followed by Chad Kemenah in the Harble Motorsports Eagle and Greg Wilson's Hampshire No. 63 in row two. Row three was made up of Jimmy Weller and Jacobs in the Webb Racing No. 51. Shepard jetted out into the initial lead, running ahead of Wilson and Rose through the first caution on lap three for a Dale Blaney spin. Shepard kept up his torrid pace as the laps flew by, with Wilson in second, followed by a duel for third between Kemenah and Jacobs as Rose faded to sixth. Jacobs finally was able to get by Kemenah and secure third on lap 12, but a red flew on lap 13 when Mark Keegan blew a right rear tire and Blaney rode over Keegan's machine and tagged the turn one guardrail hard, flipping violently. Blaney emerged from the wreck uninjured. Keegan was also eliminated from the event.

Shepard led Wilson and Jacobs when the green reappeared, and built another full straightaway lead before entering lapped traffic. By the halfway mark of the event, Kelly Kinser was on the move, up to eighth in the patented low groove of the speedway. As Shepard got back into lapped traffic, Jacobs began reeling in Wilson. Jacobs and Wilson were nose to tail and after another lap of side by side racing Jacobs dove under Wilson exiting turn four to get second on lap 28. With five laps remaining, the order was Shepard, Jacobs, Wilson, Kemenah, Kenny Jacobs, Rose and Kinser when a caution appeared for a Jeremy Campbell flat tire. Shepard, however, was able to jet out to another big lead when the green flew for the final time, winning easily over Jacobs.

"I have a super race car," Jacobs said after finishing second. "We put this new car together and I didn't need that last yellow, the tire sealed up and with lapped traffic I might have had a shot," Jacobs concluded.

Wilson ended up third ahead of Kemenah, and a late charging Kinser. K. Jacobs ended up sixth ahead of Ed Lynch Jr. who started 11th. Rose ended up eighth ahead of Nick Naber (up from 16th) and Danny Smith.

The Crown Battery heat fell to Mark Keegan, the B&B Products heat went to Jarod Larson, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Jon Agan and the TP Wings heat fell to Kevin Nouse. Track champion Kevin Schaeffer won the Outerwears Pre-filters C Main and Danny Smith won the University of Northwestern Ohio B Main. Kelly Kinser captured the Haulmark Dash and Dean Jacobs was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier.

In the 15 lap Green Flag sprint feature, Guy Griffin defeated Doug Kekich, Jim Weller Jr., Skip Dougherty, Goob Schuler and Jimmy Weller III.
