SEDALIA, MO - Gary Wright has finished in the top four of all six Thunder Through the Plains II tour events all week long. He finally cracked the winners circle Sunday night at the Missouri State Fair Park Speedway, winning the final night of the second annual series pitting the United Expressline All Stars against the NCRA. It was Wright’s second All Star win of the year, coming aboard the Action Motorsports entry. He was the first NCRA regular to capture a win in the series, and it came over defending Sedalia race winner Kenny Jacobs. He was asked in victory lane if he felt the honor of the NCRA was at stake tonight. "You know, I really did," the soft-spoken Texan answered. "We were really outnumbered. That’s just how it is. This week, we ran every race and never ran out of the top four. So if you keep running in the first four, you’re eventually going to win one somehow." Wright utilized Goodyear Tires for his $4,000 win, rather than his regular McCreary tire choice. "We’ve been running the Goodyears on the big, abrasive half miles, but we’ll be back on McCreary’s here soon," Wright stated about his tire choice. The start featured Jacobs on the pole with Wright alongside after quick timer Daniel Coggeshell drew the pill number four for the feature inversion. Jacobs bolted into the lead, staying up front for the first dozen circuits. Meanwhile, third-starting Danny Lasoski got under Wright for second at the start and began chasing Jacobs. The second lap saw Rocky Hodges dislodge Coggeshell for the fourth spot, only to lose it to Jeff Shepard one circuit later. This made the running order now Jacobs, Lasoski, Wright, Shepard and Hodges. On lap 10, Danny Smith slowed on the frontstretch and Craig Dollansky slowed to avoid him. Dale Blaney made contact with Dollansky, resulting in Dollansky flipping. The red appeared to clean up the mess. Wright used the red to his advantage. "We figured the track would lay a little rubber and get tighter. We were loose at the start," Wright said. "On the restart, it laid rubber and we were gone then." Wright took second from Lasoski when the event was restarted, then he began tracking down Jacobs. He reeled in the Schnee of Jacobs and swept past him in turn one, to take a lead he would never relinquish. Wright then led laps 13 to 30 and was unchallenged the rest of the way. Lasoski held on for third in the Guy Forbrook-Al Cole machine, with ninth starting Don Droud, Jr. bringing his Burger King machine home fourth. Rocky Hodges rode the J&J of Junior Holbrook home fifth. Jeff Shepard started the Wahlie Motorsports Maxim seventh and ended up sixth, ahead of Van Gurley, Jr. Smith recovered from the lap 10 mess to record eighth, with Coggeshell’s Viper chassis next in ninth and sixth starting Kevin Huntley recording a tenth place finish. Shane Stewart won the Southwest Expresslines heat, Aaron Berryhill the ButlerBuilt heat and Jeff Shepard and Tim Shaffer were the other two heat winners. Daniel Coggeshell captured the Action Sportswear-Indy C Main with Lasoski the Outerwears Pre-filters B Main winner and it was Kenny Jacobs winning the Commercial Truck & Trailer Dash.
