GAS CITY, IN - It was a dominating performance by Dale Blaney Friday night at Gas City I-69 Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car X-1R 40 lap A main feature. The first appearance by the series on the quarter mile was run in front of a standing room only crowd for Blaney's seventh win of the season in the Troyer Trail Bologna, Andrews Motorsports, George Fisher Racing Engines Maxim. Kelly Kinser was the runnerup with Paul May's brand new Maxim coming home third.

"We had a really good starting spot and we could dictate where we could run early. I knew traffic was going to be tough getting through," Blaney related. "We haven't won in a couple of months, so it feels pretty good--it's a good start to the weekend." Blaney had lady luck on his side as the three cautions provided him with a clear track, with the last yellow with only six laps to go especially beneficial.

For the start it was Blaney and May heading the field, followed by Kinser, Phil Gressman, Danny Smith and Chad Kemenah. Blaney grabbed the immediate lead at the drop of the green, with May trailing in second. They maintained those positions through the first caution with a dozen laps in the books. Kinser rode in third with Gressman and Smith next. Blaney pulled away when the green reappeared as May and Kinser put on a battle for second. Kinser took second from May on lap 21, but May regained the spot a circuit later.

With ten laps remaining, Kinser finally got past May for good, and set his sights on Blaney. The bottom groove was coming in now for Kinser, and he reeled in Blaney as the leader picked his way through lapped traffic. Kinser was poised to make a move on Blaney with 34 laps in the books, but debris on the track surface caused the final caution of the night. Following the restart, Kinser had nothing for Blaney, who ran away for the win.

Kinser ended up second followed by May, Dean Jacobs and Gressman. Smith was sixth ahead of eighth starter John Ivy, points leader Kemenah, Fisher Performance Hard Charger Greg Wilson, up from 22nd starting spot, and Mark Keegan.

The Crown Battery heat fell to Jon Agan, the B&B Products heat went to Jac Haudenschild, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Mark Keegan and the TP Wings heat fell to Tom Busch. Patrick Haynes won the last chance race and Terry Pletch won the Outerwears Pre-filters C Main. Dean Jacobs won the University of Northwestern Ohio B Main and Phil Gressman captured the Haulmark Dash. Kemenah was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier over the 50 car field.
