PONCE INLET, FL - The All Star sprint cars will kick off their 20th anniversary season in typical fashion, opening with races in the state of Florida in February. But things will be different than they have been in past years.

The season opens with four events at Dick Murphy’s Volusia Raceway Park in Barberville, Thursday, Feb. 4 through Sunday, Feb 7. Traditionally, the series opened on a Wednesday, but for 1999 a Thursday opener is set at the facility located near Daytona.

Following four complete shows at Volusia, the series packs up and heads across the state to the East Bay Raceway in Gibsonton, near Tampa. This will be the 23rd annual East Bay Winternationals, but the first under the direction of new East Bay track manager Tommy Hall. The $123,000 four-day event pays $10,000 to the winner of Saturday night’s final feature.

Complete shows are scheduled all four nights, with practice and media day on Tuesday.
