ROSSBURG, OH -- He has been knocking on the door all season long. And Saturday night at Eldora Speedway, Jeremy Campbell recorded his first career All Star win in dominating fashion, winning the Haulmark All Star sprint car X-1R 30 lap A main feature. The largest car count of the season for a single day show was on hand, a total of 53 sprint cars with All Star points leader Chad Kemenah coming home second.

"The car felt so great. It's the first time in this new car since we destroyed one two weeks ago," Campbell related. "It's awesome being up here in victory lane at Eldora. There's nothing else to compare this to in the world," he concluded as he thanked his crew chief Josh Forshee. Campbell's Maxim/Gaerte is supported by G-Force Racing Gear, Penske Racing Shocks, Benic Enterprises and K&N Filters.

Campbell brought the field to the green with Kasey Kahne alongside on the front row, with Butch Schroeder and Rob Chaney in row two. Brandon Wimmer and Todd Kane made up row three. Kahne got pinched into the backstretch wall on lap one by Campbell and flipped wildly down the track. Ron Blair then slid into the front end of Kahne's stopped machine but the NASCAR Nextel Cup star jumped out of his machine without injury and headed to the airport to catch a flight back to Talladega, AL.

Chaney rocketed out to a huge lead when the green flew, and had a full straightaway lead when he brushed wheels with the lapped car of Brock Mayes. The contact flattened Chaney's left rear tire, forcing him to stop on the track and bring out a caution. Kane stopped pitside at this point also, handing the lead to Campbell for the restart. Campbell then built a nice lead over Kemenah, tenth starter Phil Gressman, Wimmer, Greg Wilson and Jac Haudenschild by lap 13 when Dean Jacobs stopped the action again with a flat tire. Haudenschild had started 11th and Wilson 13th.

Campbell continued to maintain his lead, with Kemenah still running second. All eyes were on Haudenschild, who took fifth on lap 19 from Wimmer and fourth on lap 21. Haudenschild took third from Gressman on lap 25 and was second behind Campbell, passing Kemenah on lap 26. On lap 27, Ed Lynch Jr, who was running minus a front wing, spun on the backstretch for another caution. At the same time Haudenschild spun in turn four, ending up in the pits as he spun right into the pit entrance.

For the final restart it was Campbell ahead of Gressman and Kemenah, with Campbell pulling out for a dominant high groove rim riding win. Kemenah got past Gressman to finish second, with Gressman third and Hannagan fourth. Hannagan started last when he stopped on the track following his initial pushoff. Wilson was fifth followed by Wimmer, Kerry Madsen, Rob Chaney, Kane and 21st starter Bill Rose.

"Jeremy did a good job," runnerup Kemenah said. "We'll take second after starting seventh. In the big picture we're trying to close in on the points and make it three in a row."

The Crown Battery heat fell to Brock Mayes, the B&B Products heat went to Randy Hannagan, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Tim Engler and the TP Wings heat fell to Rob Chaney. South Dakota driver Clint Garner won the Outerwears Pre-filters C Main and Nick Naber won the University of Northwestern Ohio B Main. Kemenah captured the Haulmark Dash and Kane was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier over the 53 car field. Prior to the evening's races, promoter Earl Baltes was presented a plack from the All Stars honoring his retirement and contribution to the All Stars. Baltes oversaw 116 All Star races at Eldora over the last 25 years.
