All Star Sprints Get Bonus in 2001
GIBSONTON, FL - Following the conclusion of the very successful 23rd annual East Bay Raceway Sprint Winternationals, sanctioned by the All Star Circuit of Champions, East Bay track owner Stanley Kolan announced a special suprise for the 25th anniversary edition of the Nationals in the year 2001 - The silver anniversary edition will pay the winner $25,000.
So make plans now to visit East Bay Raceway in February, 2001. This is an event you won’t want to miss.
"Catch the new spirit of East Bay" was the very dominant theme of the 1999 edition of the Nationals, with many improvements made to the facility by track owner Stanley Kolan and Track Manager Tommy Hall evident. The improvements included Jersey barriers forming a cement wall lining the inside groove of the track, and more barriers to control traffic through the infield. Kolan also added $1,000-to-win Dashes each race night, with two dashes on Saturday, plus a $1,000 bonus to Danny Lasoski for a new track record and another $1,000 for the high point award for the series. The track was in excellent shape each night, featuring multi-groove racing.
The media and fans were both greeted with a friendly hello on entering the speedway, and an invitation was extended to all to speak with speedway personnel if they had any questions or concerns for the speedway staff. With high winds on Saturday, the track staff covered the back of the bleachers with sheets of plastic to cut down the wind to increase fan comfort. Finally, Kolan, Hall and Speedweeks Promoter Jean Lynch presented many of the track’s employees and guests with special awards at a trackside ceremony Saturday night.
So the 1999 nationals were better than ever. Look for them to improve for the 24th edition in 2000, and the big $25,000 to in event in 2001 will be the best yet.
