Daggett Tops All-Stars at Hartford, Tournament of Champions are Up Next
PORTLAND, Mich. -- Going into the night thinking he had a top ten, maybe a top five car, Dustin Daggett made the trip to Hartford Speedway Park to run with the All Star Circuit of Champions on Saturday. Taking the lead on lap five from Dean Jacobs, Daggett held on through several cautions and a red-flag fuel stop to take the victory.
"This is just amazing! There was no way I thought I could come in here and beat Chad Kemenah, Kelly Kinser, Greg Wilson, and the rest of the All-Star drivers," said an elated Daggett between signing autographs.
Since Sprints On Dirt had the weekend off, the current championship points leader took his 410 cubic inch Dowker-powered Maxim chassis to the big half mile track, where he has won three King of Michigan championships, including this year.
Daggett's All Star victory is his first in at 410 sprint car, first with the All Star Circuit of Champions, and eleventh win on the 2004 season. Racing for the family-owned Daggett Racing, Daggett is looking for someone to help him move to the next level.
Daggett Racing announced on Wednesday that they have signed R & M Building Systems as a sponsor on the #85 machine. For their first week of sponsorship, Daggett had the World of Outlaw race at Ionia Raceway Park scheduled for Friday and the All Star show on Saturday. R & M joined BOC Gasses, Afco Shocks, Tri-County Collision, General Signs, and Kenetic Photos as sponsors with Daggett Racing.
"Unfortunately, we rained out on Friday. I was really looking forward to running with the Outlaws, but we will be back for the rain-date on September 27," stated Daggett.
Up next for the twenty-one year old Daggett will be his second appearance at the Brodix Tournament of Champions annual event held at the Knoxville Raceway. Daggett is one of several Sprints On Dirt drivers hoping to make a splash in Iowa.
