Blonde Ambition: Chad Blonde KO's Attica Field in Fall Brawl Round #2

ATTICA, OH (9-1-07) The O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions rolled into Attica Raceway Park for their final visit of 2007 for Round #2 of the "Fall Brawl" Labor Day weekend. Forty cars came to take a shot at the All Star loot. Broken Arrow, OK's Stevie Smith, who won Round #1 at Lernerville, came to Ohio with the series to give it another shot. He would almost pull it off and make it two in a row, but Chad Blonde was far too strong to let Smith get away from him.

Blonde started 4th and patiently chased down pole sitter Smith who battled with early race leader Dean Jacobs and 3rd place running Mark Keegan in the opening laps of the 40 lapper. After a few early cautions in the opening laps, Blonde began to work his way to the front. Dicing his way around Keegan, he chased Smith who wrestled the lead away from Jacobs. Blonde caught Smith in traffic and the two ran side by side for several laps, nearly colliding with each other on more than one occasion. Blonde finally pulled away from Smith in traffic and put his car where it needed to be on the race track to run consistently fast laps as he separated himself from the field.

"Stevie wore me out out there," said Blonde from victory lane. "He's one of the best in the business. I had a lot of fun out there racing him. I shut the door on him a couple of times and I guess I lost him in traffic. This is my first win at Attica. I finished second here a few times and I was glad I could get a win on an All Star night."

Blonde has three All Star victories in 2007 after getting a late start and coming out mid-season to race again. He has picked up wins at Hilltop Speedway during Ohio Sprint Speedweek, at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, and now at Attica. The 2006 Rookie of the Year winner also has an All Star win at Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, KS. "I started the season working for Scott Benic and learned a lot about race cars and drivers," said Blonde. "He's a good coach."

Stevie Smith was happy to come away with the runner up spot. "Chad was running really good and did a great job," said Smith. "This track has been really good to me over the years and I'm happy to finish second. We'll try to get faster and try it again tomorrow night."

Greg Wilson, who picked up several more points on championship chase leader Danny Smith said, "Forget about points. We come to win races! If we can run up front and get a top three every night and beat Danny, then the rest will take care of itself." Wilson was down just 32 points entering the event and finished eight spots ahead of Smith. Hilltop Speedway is the final double points race of 2007, making things even more intense for both drivers.

The All Stars travel to Hilltop Speedway on Sunday Sept. 2nd for Round #3 of the "Fall Brawl". Don't miss it. Visit www.allstarsprint.com for more info.
