All Star Sprint Race Results - Attica Raceway Park - Mon. 9/4/00 By Scott Hall

ATTICA, OH - Chad Kemenah started the Labor Day weekend the way he ended it - in victory lane. He was the winner in the All Star sprint Attica Ambush race Monday night at Attica Raceway Park, worth $5,000 on a cool and windy night. "The car was just perfect tonight," Kemenah said. "I just want to thank my crew, the Harble family, John from UUI, TW Metals, Gambler Chassis, Goodyear tires, Hyundai Construction equipment and Kistler-Chevy engines. I just told myself to be straight and smooth and it worked." Kemenah led all 40 laps, running Attica's top groove. Kenny Jacobs got a flat tire on the last lap, allowing Mark Keegan to get by for second with Jeff Shepard third. "Chad was good on the cushion, so that made it tough to pass," Keegan recalled, standing beside the Steinbrick family Maxim. "We were pretty good tonight. If it wouldn't have been for Kenny's flat tire we'd have run third." Shepard was on the ButlerBuilt Hot Seat pole position for the start with Kemenah alongside. Kemenah jumped out to the initial lead with Shepard second and Jacobs third. Jacobs snagged second from Shepard on lap seven and was right on Kemenah's bumper when Rodney Duncan stopped off turn two on lap nine. Jamie McKinney slowed the action two laps later with a stalled machine as Keegan and Shepard battled furiously for third. Keegan took third following the restart but Shepard dove low to retake the spot on lap 15 just before McKinney brought out a red when Duncan spun in turn three and McKinney collided with him and flipped. Kemenah got another good restart and continued to lead over Jacobs and Keegan with Shepard fourth. Phil Gressman was fifth. Kelly Kinser was on the move from tenth starting spot and was challenging Gressman for fifth by lap 27. PJ Chesson spun out of seventh on lap 31 for another caution, and a lap 36 caution was the demise of three drivers. Kinser spun out of fifth, bringing out the yellow and as the field was slowing, Byron Reed tagged the front chute wall, eliminating him from eighth. On the restart, fifth palce Gressman hit the restart cone, causing another yellow and sending him to the tail. He, instead, chose to go pitside. It was now a four lap dash to the end, with Kemenah ahead of Jacobs. On the last lap Jacobs blew a tire in turn two, allowing Keegan and Shepard to get by. That's how the top three finished. Danny Smith was fourth after starting 11th, with Jacobs limping across fifth and Paul McMahan sixth. Jerrod Hull finished seventh, earning the Team Simpson Racing Lucky Seven award and Todd Kane was next with Greg Wilson finishing ninth, earning the TW Metals nightly $100 cash bonus. The heats went to Kevin Huntley, Jeff Shepard, John Ivy and Rodney Duncan. Phil Gressman won the Georgia Marketing & Promotions B Main. Danny Smith captured the Commercial Truck & Trailer Dash. Byron Reed's quick time earned a $300 bonus from Ramsey Trucking.
