PONCE INLET, FL (12/12/99)- All sprint car drivers interested in racing in the annual All Star sprint car Florida Speedweeks series in the year 200 have until January 15 to file free pre-entries for the eight races to be held at Volusia Speedway Park and East Bay Raceway. Entry fees will be charged by each track after the 15th. The All Star sprints hit the track for the first time in the new millennium with the traditional Florida Speedweeks series opener at Volusia on February 10. Volusia Speedway Park will host All Star Sprint car races Thurs. through Sunday Feb. 10-13, 2000 at the half-mile dirt track located 20 minutes from Daytona Beach. A full racing program is offered each night. The 24th annual East Bay Nationals, at Stanley Kolan's East Bay Raceway in Gibsonton near Tampa will run Wed. Feb. 16 through Sat. Feb. 19, 2000. Each All Star sprint car sanctioned preliminary event pays $4,000 to win with the big Saturday night finale paying $10,000 for the winner of the 50 lap contest. Several special awards and other surprises are in store for the 2000 All Star East Bay Nationals. To pre-enter drivers should contact each track for an entry form. In other All Star news, All Star president Bert Emick has announced that TW Metals, General Motors Powertrain Division and United Expressline will return as the series corporate sponsors in 2000. With the driver and owner point season starting in Florida, points can begin to be earned in quest of the 2000 Chevrolet Pace Truck which will again we awarded to the champion car owner at season's end, courtesy of the GM Powertrain Division. Finally, Emick has indicated the All Star racing schedule for 2000 will be very similar to the schedule of the past several seasons.
