DONINGTON TESTING NEXT STEP FOR SUPERLEAGUE FORMULA TEAMS
The Superleague Formula teams will head to Donington Park for the first of two pre-season "friendlies" starting next week - the final two test sessions before the opening round of the championship.
Teams will be able to hit the track at Donington on the next two Thursdays - August 21 and 28 - the second test date is just two days prior to the start of the opening round of the championship.
Superleague Formula teams tested at Vallelunga near Rome last week with a three day test. Turkish club Galatasaray grabbed the opening bragging rights after topping the times with Alesandro Pier Guidi behind the wheel.
The upcoming Donington test will also feature a number of clubs on track for the first time including Premier League squad Tottenham Hotspur which was announced last week as the latest Superleague Formula entry.
The opening round of the Superleague Formula championship will be held at Donington Park on August 30/31 followed by the Nurburgring (September 20-21), Zolder (October 4-5), Estoril (October 18-19), Vallelunga (November 1-2) and Jerez (November 22-23).
BORUSSIA DORTMUND FANS GET TO SEE THEIR RACECAR AT HOME
Borussia Dortmund fans are used to making a lot of noise at their home games at Sigal Iduna Park - but their efforts were clearly outshone by the club's Superleague Formula car on Sunday.
More than 30,000 fans were on-site at the club's annual fan day to preview BVB's 2008-09 Bundesliga efforts. The BVB Superleague Formula car arrived in Dortmund straight from the Vallelunga test session to entertain the club's supporters.
The club's race team Zakspeed fired up the 750 horsepower, V12 engine - giving the fans a sample of what they can expect to hear at the second round of the championship at the Nurburgring on September 20-21 - the V12 "song" echoing around the terraces. Zakspeed boss Peter Zakowski also went from the pits to the pitch for an interview for the fans with 'the voice of BVB' Norbert Dickel.
