Back to back Superleague rounds for MCT

After spending last weekend at Assen in Holland, Menard Competition Technologies' (MCT) support team is heading to Magny-Cours for the third round of the Superleague Formula series, which is taking place this weekend, 22/23 May. The back to back rounds have meant that the MCT truck has travelled the 900kms from Assen to the Magny-Cours circuit in south-east-France directly, in order to be on hand to provide technical support to the teams.

The Assen round of the Superleague Formula championship witnessed the Anderlecht team dominate the weekend, with victories in both race one and the Superfinal. The action-packed second round also featured the return of 2008 champions, Beijing Guoan, bringing the number of cars lining up on the grid to 18.

A former regular on the F1 calendar, the Magny-Cours circuit tests both drivers' skill and fitness, with its mix of slow corners and high-speed sections, which include a high-speed dash to the first-gear Adelaide hairpin. The 4.11km circuit's 17 corners traditionally make overtaking a challenge but the push to pass option on the MCT V12 engines will allow drivers to maximise their overtaking opportunities.

Kevin Lee, MCT's managing director, commented: "The Assen round produced some superb racing that entertained the spectators all weekend. We were also pleased to see the return of Beijing Guoan to the Superleague Formula championship, further strengthening the grid numbers for 2010.

"The short turnaround between the two races has brought logistical challenges for the teams but the MCT squad has been on hand to offer technical assistance where required.

"Magny-Cours is the first circuit this year where the teams and drivers will be able to refer to last year's technical data to help with their race setup. It is sure to produce some great racing and possibly witness a number of teams challenging for overall honours."
