HO-PIN TUNG FAST IN SUPERLEAGUE FORMULA

There were no points yet at the finish, but Ho-Pin Tung enjoyed his first appearance in the Superleague Formula this weekend at Magny Cours in France very much. A 14th and 13th place in both races of this weekend did not reflect the devotion and the speed of the young Chinese. He defended the colors of Atletico Madrid. In Race 1 Ho-Pin had to avoid a group of colliding colleagues finding his way through the gravel. At the first pit stop the team was ready, but unfortunately with the wrong set of tyres. Waiting for the right set was too much for the engine temperature and the engine stalled. It was difficult to restart the overheated engine and with one lap down Ho-Pin Tung rejoined the race. In Race 2 Dominick Muermans (PSV Eindhoven) torpedoed him self into the front suspension of Ho-Pin Tung's car. After inspection in the pit Ho-Pin rejoined with a far from fresh car, but he managed to be one of the fastest drivers on the track. As a result of the extra pit stop he finished 13th.

Ho-Pin Tung appeared suddenly at Magny Cours on Thursday to take the wheel in the Superleague Formula. He declares: 'For me it was of course less sudden. I am very happy that I can compete in this very challenging series. I would have like to do another season in GP2 but I wanted to have a competitive car and a good team. This seemed to be not possible. I am still aiming at Formula 1 and the competition in the Superleague Formula keeps me sharp.'
