WALKER HEADING TO HOLLAND FOR ROUND TWO
James Walker heads to Assen in Holland this weekend for round two of the Superleague Formula by Sonangol series. The Jersey racer has put the disappointment of his difficult debut at Silverstone far behind him and is ready to race at the front in Assen.
James is a fast-learner and he will need to be, as he hasn't raced at Assen before. Friday's free practice sessions will give him plenty of opportunity to learn the track that is best known for some epic motorcycle races. Once qualifying gets underway on Saturday afternoon James will know the track and will be looking to show at least as strongly as he did at Silverstone, where he made it all the way through to the semi-finals.
"I can't wait to get back in the car as we have had a very long break since the Silverstone races," said James. "Assen is a new circuit to me but it's one that I have always wanted to race at. It's a very important weekend as I need to score points after the results at Silverstone. I know my car will be fast so I have to get my head down and learn the circuit as quickly as I can. I'm confident I can do a good job in qualifying and I will be doing everything I can to make sure I have good races in Holland."
The Superleague action isn't confined to the race track this weekend. James will be heading into the city centre of Assen on Friday evening to take part in a demonstration through the city streets. Qualifying takes place on Saturday afternoon and racing begins on Sunday at 1100hrs.
"The street demo will be a lot of fun," commented James. "My team and I are working on doing a similar thing in Jersey this summer. A Jersey demo would be fantastic and I hope we can get the support of the local authorities to do it. It's a great opportunity for people to get close to the action."
