Alvaro Parente in the Silverstone's final

Alvaro Parente was in great shape in the qualifying of the 2010 Superleague Formula by Sonangol's first round, that will be held tomorrow at Silverstone, putting the Futebol Clube do Porto's single-seater in an excellent second place.

The qualifying session started with dry track and it was in those conditions that the Portuguese driver was the fastest in his group. With the rain falling, he beat Yelmer Buurman, in the quarter-final, and James Walker, in the semi-final, meeting Max Wissel in the final.

It looked like Alvaro Parente could beat the FC Basel driver, being faster than him in the first sector, but he made a small mistake in the second sector that prevented him to conquer the pole-position. "It was in my reach to get the starting grid first position, but when I braked to Vale I locked a wheel and I couldn't beat Wissel. The car is handling well and we keep to adapt it to the track conditions, something that was very important to reach the second place, a result that I think it is a very good one", said the driver that defends Futebol Clube do Porto's colours.

For tomorrow's race the Portuguese youngster's expectations are high, as he think that he will have a powerful ally in his car. "We are in a good position for tomorrow's races and I think that we can fight for the win in each of them. Of course that the weather will play a part, but I feel that the car will be strong in any conditions", underlined Alvaro Parente.
