AMAZING!!! ABSOLUTE DEAD-HEAT FINISH AS TOP THREE FINISHERS TIE IN MAIN EVENT!

April 1, 1995

Dear SCRA Fans,

None of you will believe this, but the top three finishers in SCRA's main event Saturday night finished in a dead-heat tie! Yep!, Ron Shuman, J.J. Yeley, and Lealand McSpadden crossed the finishline lined-up side-by-side after a dead-heat, nose-to-nose sprint off the fourth turn on the 30th lap. No one present could believe it!

It took officials twenty minutes of conferencing to come up with the ruling. Certainly Jim Naylor's well-prepared, tight 1/4 mile track contributed to this amazing finish!

(Now if you continue to read and believe this bogus beginning to last night's April 1st results, you really are a fool! Happy April Fool's Day to all of you. Now read on for the REAL results!)

These are the REAL results of Sprint Car Racing Association's (SCRA) fourth scheduled event for 1995, and the first event run at Ventura Raceway at Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura, CA. Twenty-eight (28) cars checked in for tonight's event, but only 26 qualified. Darren Simas flipped during hot laps, and Jim Blenkarn had mechanical problems; Simas was not injured.

A near-capacity crowd was on hand to witness SCRA's action on Promoter Jim Naylor's well-prepared track. There was only one flip during the evening's racing, but fortunately the driver was not hurt. Jerry Meyer did a snap rollover during a heat race, but the car was repaired and able to return to action.

Crossing the finishline first was reigning SCRA Driving Champion, Ron Shuman. Close behind was young J.J. Yeley, Lealand McSpadden, Cory Kruseman, and Mike Kirby. Rounding out the top ten was Verne Sweeney, Ron DiDonato, Troy Cline, Meyer, and Rip Williams.
