First Win at San Felipe 250 - Great Event in Eastern Germany
At last! We won the 22 car strong Class 1 for Unlimited Buggies at the San Felipe 250! The 244 miles were enormously fast, rough with giant jumps and crests. Tough terrain, but Martin and All German Motorsports had done an immaculate job preparing our Buggy and the pit stop.
But it was not all without drama. I drove the first stint, and already after five miles I heard Bryan's voice on the intercom: "Slow, take it easy!" The warning lamp of the torque limiter which normally should flicker a few times over a long distance, glowed permanently RED. So I slowed down, always took a high gear and really took it very easy. But despite being easy on the car our rear shocks went after 30 miles. So I slowed down even more. It was actually quite painful. When we reached a dry lake bed after fifty miles, where you would normally go flat-out over quite a distance, we were excruciatingly slow, and it took a lot of patience. But it was the right thing to do.
Martin Christensen waited at our pit stop point after 122 miles. I warned him on the heading out after just 30 seconds! He put in a masterful performance. Using all his skill and experience he coaxed the car without rear dampers over the second 122 miles and even managed to overtake one competitor. Then he passed the other one who stood beside the track with a flat tyre - and Martin reached the finish first! Twelve seconds before the second-placed Buggy!
Great event in Eastern Germany - Fans behind the wheel of our Buggy
After such a success it is sweet to come home, especially because we have a great event coming up in Eastern Germany on April 7 and 8. On a vast offroad track we will first strap journalists to our co-driver's seat and catapult them to the limit. Then the happy winners of our Off Road Quiz will drive the Buggy themselves! You can't imagine the ecstatic reactions from the winners in their emails! I am very curious to see their faces after their 640+hp rides! And as the final we'll have a comparison test of our Buggy versus a high-tech all-wheel-drive World Rally Car.
To make it short: Life's good!
All the best,
