Volkswagen Re-signs Caleb Kenney as Factory Driver

SONOMA, Cali. -- On Wednesday, Caleb Kenney was re-signed by Volkswagen of America to compete in the 2009 SCCA Pro Racing Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup. 2009 marks both the second year of the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup and Kenney's participation in the series.

Volkswagen held an invitation only, four day event to select drivers for 2009. Infineon Raceway, in Sonoma, Cali., hosted the event's festivities. Kenney was in good form and used his home track knowledge to help secure a seat for the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup season.

After a strong showing in many races in the 2008 season, Kenney is returning with high hopes for the 2009 Championship. The Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup offers a great media package with 30minute, tape delayed broadcasts for each race during primetime hours on Speed Channel, a subsidiary of Fox Networks. The Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup will be a support series for either the America LeMans Series or the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series at seven of nine venues.

"I'm really excited to be competing for Volkswagen in the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup," exclaimed Caleb Kenney after his 2009 season selection. "Volkswagen has given me a great opportunity to race for them again and I know that with a lot of hard work, plus a little luck, I can bring home the championship."
