"Bad Luck Continues for Wehrheim"

Norcross, GA (June 25, 2010) - Round five of the VW Jetta TDI Cup was held at Mid-Ohio June 19-20. This was the series second appearance with Grand- Am and the weather was perfect for the large crowd on hand.

Two weeks prior the series visited Miller Motorsports Park where Chris's championship hopes were dashed with two large penalties consisting of 50 championship points and 10 grid positions in qualifying at the event. Chris was deemed to have too much racing experience. Knowing he needed to qualify at the front to have a chance at a podium, he posted the 3rd fastest lap, which meant he would start in the 13th position for the race. Getting off to a great start Chris made it up to 10th before the end of lap one before being hit by the ninth place driver who spun on the exit of turn fourteen.

Saturday practice went well for Wehrheim at Mid-Ohio posting the eighth fastest time. The drivers arrived bright and early Sunday Morning for an 8:00 AM qualifying session where Chris went six tenths of second faster, but it was only good enough for 10th. The start did not go as well as hoped with the inside line not getting a good run through the keyhole. Unfortunately just past halfway Chris suffered a flat tire and was out of the race while in 11th position, though he did turn the second fastest lap of the race.

"This was a tough weekend for me and I took a massive hit in the points in the past two events, but I will move forward and focus on the next race at Autobahn Country Club," stated Wehrheim. "My goal for the remainder of the season is to win the most races and accumulate the most points out of any driver over the last five races."
