Orange, VA - The Washington DC region Sports Car Club of America is proud to present the 2nd annual Rapidan RallySprints scheduled for June 22 2002. The event is a flat-out race by modified production automobiles piloted simultaneously by a driver and a Co-driver team over a course they have not seen. The team is guided by notes provided by the organizers detailing turns, jumps, water crossings and other hazards. Competing teams race against the clock at one minute intervals and the cumulative lowest time wins the event.

There are 5 classes or car categories ranging from slightly modified with only safety enhancements to fully modified turbo-charged 4-wheel drive rally cars. Teams will be competing for regional championships and will come from the entire east coast.

Spectators and press are welcome and viewing areas, spectator guides, restrooms and an opportunity to meet the teams all will be available and are free to the public. Food and specialty vendors will present. The event venue is a specially designed 4-mile course run multiple times in each direction on a scenic rural farm. Participants, workers, press and spectators will all be asked to sign an insurance waiver upon entrance to the property. A brief awards ceremony will follow the event to present the overall and class winner with trophies.

The event website with updates, directions and the competitor entry list is posted online at www.dcrally.com/clubrally/rapidan/.

Volunteers to act as course marshals are also needed. All volunteers will receive a free lunch and great vantage points from which to watch the rally. If interested, please contact Jake Rowlands by email at jaker@harborduvall.com. Press passes will be issued to members of the press presenting proper credentials at the event or by contacting the Press Relations officer Jerry Davey at fastrnur@msn.com.

The address of the venue is 16253 Marquis Road Orange, VA 22960. Signs will be posted along major local roads to assist you in getting there.
