First SCCA RallyCross National Event Ready to Roll in Hastings
TOPEKA, Kan. (Oct. 14, 2005) -- Drivers from as far as away as Utah and California, as well as former SCCA Performance Rally Champions, are entered for this weekend's SCCA RallyCross National Challenge at Motorsports Park Hastings (MPH) - the first RallyCross National in Club history.
By Thursday, more than 50 names filled out the entry list, promising a healthy field in all (Street Stock, Rally Street, Rally Prepared and Rally Modified) divisions. Mother Nature appears to have given the go-ahead, as conditions are expected to be pristine with temperatures in the upper 70s and clear skies; all of which should lead to a full weekend of dirt slinging on the unpaved, one-mile course.
"We are very excited at how it appears this weekend is going to play out," SCCA Rally Manager Pego Mack said. "All of the people from both Nebraska Region and Motorsports Park Hastings who have been working so hard to make the first RallyCross National Challenge a reality should be rewarded for their efforts, and I think a big field and a weekend of great competition is fitting."
The event begins in earnest at 10 a.m. Saturday, with each of the classes taking turns in a heat format. Sunday begins at 9 a.m. and will crown the first national-level winners at the conclusion of the event Sunday afternoon.
Winners in each class will be decided by the lowest cumulative times taken from both Saturday and Sunday.
An event recap, images and results will be available online as they become available. For more information including schedules, visit www.scca.com.
