Lloyd Read Joins World Speed Motorsports for the 2011 FCC West Coast Region Championship
FE standout moves up into the PFM class with eyes set towards the Star Mazda Championship

January 20th, 2011 - In just his first year of open wheel competition 20 year old Lloyd Read was able to finish 3rd in the SFR SCCA FE Championship. Once Read completed his FE season he got behind the wheel of a Pro FM and competed at Infineon Raceway with World Speed support. In the weeks following he committed to contesting the entire 2011 FCC championship with WSM. "After working well with Lloyd at the Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear finale, we are excited to have him join the team for next season." stated WSM Team Owner Telo Stewart. "Lloyd is very dedicated to learning the ins and outs of racing, and his passion for the sport is contagious."

Many up and coming racers like Lloyd are looking at the FCC series as a great way to prepare for the Star Mazda championship," noted Series Official Ben Hettema. "They can race head-to-head at some of the greatest tracks in the country in the same exact car that they will eventually race in the Star Mazda events. This gives them an advantage to competitors who move into the series from different arenas. The costs to race a Pro FM in the FCC with a top level team is very cost effective, and the number of possible extra races and test days are incredible." In 2011 World Speed Motorsports is scheduled to attend 38 races that the Pro Mazda is eligible for, and also take part in 40-50 test days.

Read however won't be able to take advantage of all of the available driving in his Pro FM as he will also be contesting the SFR SCCA Championship in the FE class. "Lloyd does all his own work on his FE car and that is part of the full immersion racing program that will help him succeed in both series," added Hettema. Read is also currently a full time student at Saint Mary's College in Moraga California.

Read and World Speed Motorsports are currently testing in preparation for the Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear season opener at Infineon Raceway March 19th-20th.
