PORTLAND, Ore. - Feb. 11, 2003 - Local race champion Cindi Lux has announced a major sponsorship with Suburban Chevrolet of Sandy, Ore., to support Team NayKid's racing efforts for the 2003 SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) National series. Team NayKid is a three-car Corvette team for which Lux races. Suburban Chevrolet is the Northwest's largest Corvette dealer.

Lux, the former American Le Mans Series Women's Global GT Series Champion, is driving for Scotty B. White's Team NayKid Racing. White, also a driver with the team, is the first driver ever to win a World Challenge race driving a C5 Corvette. In 2002, White set four track records on his way to a divisional championship. White, along with teammate Rick Gilhart, is a current SCCA World Challenge driver.

Suburban Chevrolet, a family-owned dealership established in 1967, joins Kumho Tire, Red Line Oil and Ohlins USA as sponsors of the team's three Z06 Chevrolet Corvettes.

"Signing on with a winning team powered by the legendary Corvette was a natural for us," explained Nancy Jaksich, second-generation owner of Suburban Chevrolet. "As this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Corvette, there is already a great deal of momentum in place. Our dealership's endorsement of a local Portland racer and a Northwest team only adds to the excitement!"

Lux and White will make appearances on behalf of the dealership, including a cruise-in on May 3 at the dealership. Suburban Chevrolet is also excited to host a kick-off celebration on June 21 for the National Corvette Caravan, whose final destination will be the Chevrolet-sponsored Corvette 50th Anniversary event in Nashville.

"Suburban Chevrolet is a family-owned company with a terrific reputation in the Northwest, and I am thrilled that they have come on board to sponsor our team," stated Lux. "On a personal level, I have a great deal of respect for Nancy as the owner of the dealership. Only 4% of all dealers in the country are women; that's a ratio I am familiar with, being a female athlete in a male-dominated sport."

The NayKid Racing team is expected to give the SCCA Class T1 (Touring 1) competitors a good run for a championship bid in 2003. At the season's inaugural race at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) on Jan. 19 and 20, Lux, Gilhart and White dominated the field, with Gilhart taking the win both days. Gilhart set the new T1 track record for PIR, with all three drivers running fast laps within .3 seconds of each other.

The remaining scheduled SCCA National races for NayKid Racing for 2003 include: March 8-9, Phoenix, Ariz.; Apr. 26-27, Sacramento, Calif.; May 16-18, Portland, Ore., May 23-26, Seattle, Wash., June 12-15, Portland, Ore.; June 19-22, Wisconsin; July 11-13, San Francisco, Calif., July 25-27, Vancouver, B.C., Canada; Aug. 1-3, Monterey, Calif.; Aug. 30-31, Columbus, Ohio; Sept. 15-21, Columbus, Ohio.
