TOPEKA, Kan. (Nov. 11, 2008) -- Television programming for the 2008 SCCA National Championship Runoffs begins this Wednesday, Nov. 12, on SPEED with the Touring 2 and Formula Mazda National Championship races.

Four-time SCCA National Champion Don Knowles leads the Touring 2 field to the green flag at noon (EST). Knowles times the start perfectly in his No. 35 Phoenix/Hoosier/Hawk/iRacing.com Pontiac and by the race's halfway point has opened up a substantial lead on second-place Bill Ziegler. That gap would be erased with only a handful of laps remaining, however, as Ziegler had set up his No. 05 Swisher/Hoosier/Phoenix Pontiac Solstice to come in late in the race. Pay close attention because the T2 title will come down to the final lap and what you see on the track is not what's recorded in the results book.

Next at 1 p.m. (EST), it's Formula Mazda. The field immediately goes three-wide on the start, with Frank Futrelle's No. 97 Meco Inc. of Augusta Formula Mazda coming out on top. To win his first-ever National Championship, Futrelle will have to keep the No. 6 sloneracing.com/GoPro/Molecule Formula Mazda of Jamie Slone at bay. One of the two will make a mistake, allowing the other to cruise to victory. Tune into SPEED on Wednesday, Nov. 12, to find out which.
