PUYALLUP, Wash. -- Sept. 3, 2003 -- Team NayKid Racing drivers Scotty B. White, Cindi Lux and Rick Gilhart returned to their respective homes after a successful and challenging weekend at the SCCA Buckeye National Race on Aug. 30 and 31 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The team fielded its three Kumho Tire/Redline Oil/Kodiak Racing Wheel Z06 Corvettes sponsored by Suburban Chevrolet. Team owner and driver White finished first, Gilhart in third with Lux rounding out the three-car effort in sixth.

White buried the field by 1.5 seconds and captured the pole during Saturday's qualifying session with Gilhart in third. Due to an uncharacteristic hard crash during a test session on the previous day, Lux qualified her battered machine ninth.

Lux's problems weren't done for the weekend as she faced another challenge in pre-grid, which forced her to start at the back of the grid in 36th. With lap times only .5 tenths off White's blistering pace, Lux was able to carve her way through the pack putting on a show that entertained many spectators. By the checkered flag, Lux had gained 30 positions to finish an impressive sixth place.

"It's not a stellar way to introduce myself to Mid-Ohio for the first time! Never having been to that track was a terrible way to get initiated! Starting in the back of the field was just icing on the cake for how my weekend went but it actually turned out to be lots of fun. With a little more setup on the car and more track time, we will be just fine for the big event," Lux said with a devious smile on her face.

White dominated the race from the start and lead during the entire race. At the start of the race, another car came into contact with Gilhart, which shoved him toward the back of the field. With a good setup and tons of experience at the road course, he managed to drive his way back up through the cars and finished with his teammate White on the podium in third. Gilhart battled with competitor David Roush for a photo finish at the checkered flag. White had an outstanding 16-second lead over the second place competitor at the finish.

"I am really jacked up about my new hot rod. The crew gave me a stellar piece to run with! The Doug Rippie calibration with Arnies rebuild made for killer yank! All the hard work from NayKid Racing all year is really paying off! I'm really jazzed about our chances for a good result in the big show," team owner White commented.

The West Coast team is turning heads and has just been marked by the SPEED Channel as one of the "teams to watch" during the SCCA National Championship Valvoline Mid-Ohio Runoffs slated for Sept. 15-21.

The three Corvettes are now sleeping tight in the NayKid Racing transporter fully prepped and ready for the crown jewel of the SCCA season, the Runoffs.
