The weather here has turned colder and wetter again. There were sprinkles falling at the tail end of the Formula Ford qualifying, which of course caused plenty of last minute spins and off-and-ons. As I write this, the Sports 2000/Shelby Can-AM group is just pulling off course. A few drops touched the pavement, but from this vantage point the track still looks dry. Three groups are left for the day: FV, AS, and SRF.

Cal Club board member / FF driver / SoPac Director candidate (endorsed by this author and many workers) Jeff Nadler showed up at the airport this morning. He didn't have a rental car, so he held up a sign saying "SCCA Runoffs - need ride to Mansfield - will buy the gas - great west coast gossip and story telling." Lee Fleming, there to pick up his wife Linda and son Chase, gave Jeff a lift, going out of their way to get him to his hotel. Getting lost in the scenery, they finally found Mid-Ohio. Jeff is now staying on the couch at Marge Bink's hotel.

Paul Shinsky races a DSR called a Sorcerer. Instead of showing him as the driver, the driver's pod says "Sorcerer's Apprentice".

Michael Galati said he's "glad to be here" after he was "attacked by a deer" yesterday. When asked how he planned to overcome the Nissan of Daugherty, he said "I need to do a little better on the straights. We clocked some segment times and we're quicker than Dave by four tenths in Madness, and quicker in other turns, but he's got horsepower. Anyway, we'll give it hell." Even after his past championships, he admits you get some butterflies. "I just try to relax until the green comes out, but the excitement is always there." He specifically thanked his crew Larry Dick and Wayne Ward, and Mazda, and Red Line Oil. He also said his wife Antonietta and daughter Michaela have been very supportive, especially since Galati is also racing in World Challenge.
